Resumo

In this article we analyze four music videos of contemporary Brazilian queer artists, who share the same scenario: fairs and public marketplaces. The music videos are: Laricado by GetúlioAbelha, Fast Phoda by Kika Boom, Não pode esquecer o guanto by Leona Vingativa and Popa da Bunda by the Afrobapho collective. Beginning from the understanding of fairs as popular territories, our objective is to investigate how the audiovisual performances of these artists claim and “appropriate” these territories through their narratives. With this objective, we first carry out a theoretical review around the notion of territory. Next, we conduct the analysis of the post-MTV music videos, in dialogue with the academic work on performance as acts of vital transference (Taylor 2015), and research dedicated to proposing methodological paths for performance studies in music videos (Soares 2014a, 2014b).
