Nikos Kazantzakis' works aim at awakening consciences. In addition to the diversity of his forms -novel, theatre, essay, poetry- Kazantzakis excels as a poet and, in this order, lives in a perpetual state of poetry. In his existential poems emerges his love of freedom, a dionysiac imprint, a tragic sense and the indelible presence of his native Crete.
